The Riverfront Residence Hall is located along the beautiful Flint River in downtown Flint. Flint is located in southeastern Michigan and has a population of approximately 125,000. Although the city is best known as the birthplace of General Motors, changes in the automobile industry have caused the area to become better known for its educational opportunities. Over 30,000 students attend the University of Michigan-Flint, Kettering University, Baker College and Mott Community College – all located in Flint. The Flint Cultural Center, shopping centers and recreational activities, including the Crim Festival of Races and the Buick Open PGA event, round out the community’s assets.

Downtown Flint is "changing gears" from a factory town to a college town. The city's dedicated civic leaders and community members are working hard to revitalize the downtown area. With access to over half a million people in Greater Genesee County, it is being redeveloped as a city center for workers, students and surrounding residents to enjoy. Flint's shining jewel is its world class Cultural Center that hosts over 600,000 guests a year – the center is made up of the Flint Institute of Arts, the Flint Institute of Music, Flint Youth Theatre and Bower Theater, Whiting Auditorium, Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium. Downtown Flint's future is backed by the community’s visionaries to create a more vibrant city – a place to learn, work, live and enjoy.

The Riverfront Residence Hall is part of the stimulus that is fueling the redevelopment of downtown Flint. Riverfront Residence Hall residents can take advantage of downtown and the Cultural Center’s growing special events, restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife, community events and cultural offerings.

Flint and Genesee County welcome you to sample the diverse mix of cultural, educational, historical and entertainment options. Just minutes from your new home, these attractions are sure to add to your educational experience.
